DXTender® Electrode Extender Brochure

UtahLoop and C-Letz electrodes for performing the LEEP or LETZ procedure.Utah Medical Products' electrosurgical electrodes have been optimally designed for the specific requirements of specialized electrosurgery. Developed through exhaustive clinical analysis, the UtahLoop® round loop electrodes include the Safe-T-Gauge® that provides greater loop stability and prevents over-excision of healthy cervical tissue. The 'Y' shaped shaft provides additional loop support and increases visibility during the cutting procedure.

SAFE-T-GAUGE® - The UtahLoop® electrodes have the Safe-T-Gauge® which allows the clinician to set the maximum depth of excision, preventing excessive excising of tissue and provides support to the loop wire for greater strength and stability.

TUNGSTEN WIRE - All loop and needle electrodes utilize high-grade tungsten wire. Because it retains its mechanical properties at a higher temperature than stainless steel, tungsten maintains better shape and wire integrity throughout the excision procedure.

COLOR CODING - Utah Medical Products' electrosurgical electrodes are individually color coded to help the clinician easily identify electrode dimensions during selection.

DISPOSABLE - All Utah Medical Products' electrosurgical electrodes are single use, disposable. This prevents cross-contamination from patient to patient and ensures the highest level of performance for each procedure.

STANDARD DIMENSIONS - Our electrodes all utilize the industry standard 3/32" diameter stainless steel shaft which allows easy connection to standard control pens. In addition, high-dielectric plastic insulation protects the patient and clinician from electric shock and burn.

EXTERNAL LESION ELECTRODES (5.5cm SHAFT)

Utah Medical Products' short shaft electrodes are ideal for controlled removal of external lesions, providing more utilization of office-based ESU's. Excision of lesions allows for dermatopathology of the specimen, which is not possible with ablative modalities such as cryotherapy.

C-LETZ® CONIZATION ELECTRODES

Diagram of a C-LETZ conization electrode performing the excision of an endocervical CIN lesion.Current excisional devices for managing deep endocervical CIN lesions lack the shape needed to preserve healthy cervical tissue. Cone biopsy morbidity appears to be related to the total amount of tissue excised, demonstrating that tissue-sparing excision techniques are important to improving clinical outcomes. Traditional "straight-wire" conization electrodes excise an excess of healthy tissue, which may compromise adequate cervical function. Research has also shown that CIN involvement in most endocervical glands extends no more than 3.8 mm from the cervical surface. The C-LETZ® conization electrodes are designed from this research. Their patented contoured electrode shape removes a constant thickness specimen to ensure adequate removal of diseased tissue without risking excessive excision of healthy cervical tissue.

DXTENDER® ELECTRODE EXTENDERS FOR LETZ®

The patent-pending DXTender® Electrode Extenders provide a unique and effective solution for LETZ procedures.

DXTender Electrode Extender for the LETZ Procedure.Cervical depth varies among patients. LETZ electrode lengths that are appropriate for one patient will be insufficient to reach another patient's cervix. A traditional straight extender can provide adequate reach, but the additional length may cause hand pencil interference with the colposcope body.

Utah Medical Products, Inc's DXTender® Electrode Extenders are specially configured to provide positive tactility during the loop excision, yet keep the hand and pencil away from the colposcope and view axis.
